La reazione cutanea avversa all’alimento (AFR = Adverse Food Reaction) è una diagnosi differenziale importante per numerose manifestazioni dermatologiche comuni nel cane. La manifestazine cutanea più frequente dell’AFR mima la dermatite atopica canina (CAD = Canine Atopic Dermatitis) e si ritiene condivida una patogenesi comune.
