Histological diagnosis of a neoplasm followed by immunohistochemical confirmation of its origin and coupled with a morphological prognostic assessment (grading), is a crucial step in the management of neoplastic disease in human beings. Immunohistochemistry is a special technique that can be applied on routine histological tumour sections to investigate the expression of a protein.
