Respiratory distress is a very common presenting complain in avian medicine. Causes are very diverse and diagnosis is technically difficult since those patients are difficult to handle. The lecturer will present a didactic step by step procedure to manage those different cases, embracing different species and various procedures. Tips and therapeutic updates will be provided.
Crucial information can be retrieved during anamnesis. Species, age and sex are basic data but may orientate the diagnosis. Some species may be very prone to aspergillosis, while older bird may be more susceptible to cardiac disease and atherosclerosis. Female may be egg bound. Aviary birds living outdoor may be susceptible to parasitic disease while indoor bird can be exposed to environmental smoke or teflon. [...]
