Myasthenia gravis is a potentially devastating disorder affecting neuromuscular transmission1 . While there is a congenital disorder in which patients lack acetylcholine receptors, by far the most common condition encountered is an acquired immune-mediated disease in which antibody mediated damage of the post synaptic nicotinic cholinergic receptor. As is typical of many immune-mediated diseases, myasthenia gravis occurs most commonly in young otherwise healthy animals and in older animals in which it is common to find an underlying cancer, in particular thymoma. During the diagnostic workup, it is important to obtain thoracic radiographs to identify megaoesophagus and to screen for thymoma or other cancer. [...]
