Abstract
Bos mutus, as the special genetic resource in Qinghai-Tibet plateau, are distributed in arid alpine meadow and alpine desert grasslands of 3 500m average altitude. Wild yak are bigger, grow faster and have strong stress resistance. Datong Yak Breeding Fann of Qinghai Province has domesticated the young yak of Kunlun and Kekexili region since 1 980s, and has finished lots of researches, while little is known about calf weaning technology. Weaning is important to reproduction, and after that the cow can recover quickly and improve their reproductivity. Now the weaning technology on ordinary cow is successful, and it is also successful in five-month-old yak, while there is no report on the early weaning of wild yak. Therefore, the research aimed at improving the reproductive rate and making the cow recover quickly, without affecting the calf growth. [...]
