Sheila Laverty is a Full Professor in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, University of Montreal, Chief of the Division of Equine Surgery and Director of the Comparative Orthopaedic Research Laboratory (research focus on joint disease pathophysiology, diagnosis and therapy for over 20 years). She was Co-Theme leader of the Diagnostics and Therapeutics theme of the Canadian Arthritis Network (a group of150 researchers- funded by the Canadian government for 12 years to study OA). She is currently member of the research advisory committee of the Arthritis Society of Canada and Theme leader of the musculoskeletal section of Thécell (Quebec government funded cell therapy research network). She has supervised 55 graduate students including Post Docs, Phd, MScs and equine surgery residents and published over 100 manuscripts in leading journals in Orthopaedic and equine research.
