Develop your knowledge and understanding of triage in dogs. This is a one-part course that can also be taken as part of the Critical care course bundle.

This module looks at essential equipment in the emergency room, primary survey, immediate treatment priorities for life-threatening problems, categories for triage and secondary survey for triage in dogs, including:

Essential equipment in emergency room – list of essential equipment including oxygen source, crash cart, suction, electrical defibrillator, etc.Primary survey – questions to ask owner when triaging patients.Immediate treatment priorities for life-threatening problems – ABCDE of primary survey: airway, breathing, circulation, disability, examination.Categories for triage and secondary survey triage – immediate, delayed, non-urgent, priority 2 or 3, none.Secondary survey – point of care ultrasound (POCUS).
