This webinar will start with a review of the pathophysiology underlying primary and secondary traumatic brain injury. It will then focus on the clinically relevant diagnostics and treatments for small animal patients with traumatic brain injury, incorporating evidence from veterinary and human medical literature.
Speaker - Melissa Claus, DVM, Diplomate ACVECC
Melissa hails from the United States. After receiving her DVM from the University of Florida in 2006, and completing a 1-year small animal internship at the University of Pennsylvania in 2007, Melissa went on to complete her residency in Emergency and Critical Care at the University of California Davis in 2010. She is currently a Lecturer at Murdoch University in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care. Her clinical interests include transfusion medicine, pulmonary physiology and pathology, acid-base and electrolyte disturbances in the critically ill patient, and life-saving techniques involving extracorporeal circulation.
