Mark Troxel, DVM, DACVIM (Neurology)
Encephalitis is a fairly common broad category of neurological disease in dogs and cats. This lecture will review clinical signs and diagnostic options for dogs and cats with intracranial and spinal cord inflammatory & infectious diseases. We will then turn to individual diseases and their treatment options/prognoses. We will cover Granulomatous Meningoncehalomyelitis (GME), Necrotizing Encephalitis (formerly called "Pug Encephalitis"), Eosinophilic Meningoencephalitis, Steroid Responsive Meningitis-Arteritis, and infectious diseases (e.g., canine distemper, FIP, toxoplasmosis).
