Speaker - Dr Claire Sharp BSc, BVMS, MS, DACVEC
Dr Claire Sharp is a 2002 graduate of Murdoch University Veterinary School in Perth Western Australia. After a residency in emergency medicine and critical care at the University of Missouri she attained her Diplomate Status in the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care in 2010. Claire worked as an Assistant Professor at The Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, outside of Boston for 6 years, before returning to Australia in 2015. Since that time Claire has been the Section Head of Emergency and Critical Care at The Animal Hospital at Murdoch University. With a team of colleagues, Claire runs the Community Blood Bank at The Animal Hospital, providing over 170 dog and cat blood transfusions per year. As well as her role in blood banking Claire does clinical work, teaches veterinary students, interns and residents, and has an active research program. Claire’s research interests include transfusion medicine, trauma, and sepsis.
