Summary
Biotechnology of boar sperm encapsulation
Encapsulation is a process by which different chemical or biological compounds are included in a core isolated from the external environment through an outer membrane. This system has as fundamental objectives the protection of the active principle and its scheduled release from the capsule. It has a widespread use in many areas and industries. In the biotechnology field it has achieved a great success in therapeutics, food, immunology and reproduction. The protection of somatic cells and gametes through encapsulation allows, on the one hand, to create “small organs” that can survive in unfavorable environments and, in the case of spermatozoa, to protect them, promote their conservation, favor their transport in the female genital tract or to their sequenced release in the time which favors the fertilization process.
