The Yak Industry Group of Western China will arrange the activities and provide funding to cover the expenses of the four-day field visits for every participants (the expenses cover transport, accommodation shared by two persons, meals; You are expected only to pay 30 US$/per person for the entrance fee to the Jiuzhaigou Forest Park. In case you would like to stay in a single room, you are expected to pay for the additional charge. The schedule of the four-day field visits
Thursday Sept. 23 - Departure from Chengdu at 07:30 am to Hongyuan county in Sichuan, where the Maiwa yak are found. Overnight in Hongyuan hotel. The altitude in Hongyuan county averages 3500 m and the temperature 5 to 20 degrees ºC.
Friday Sept. 24 - Visits to yak production area and yak product processing enterprises; a special workshop on Yak Milk Production and Marketing will be taken place in Hongyuan. Overnight in Hongyuan hotel.
Saturday Sept. 25 - Visits to yak product processing enterprise and Jiuzhaigou Forest Park. Overnight in Jiuzhaigou hotel.
Sunday Sept. 26 - Visit Jiuzhaigou Forest Park and return to Chengdu.
Jiuzhaigou Forest Park
Jiuzhaigou is a deep valley of stunning natural beauty, approximately 620 sq km in area, about 400 km in the north from Chengdu. The altitude in Jiuzhaigou Valley averages 3000 m and temperature 10 to 20 degrees. It is a national park and has also been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. The name Jiuzhaigou refers to the nine Tibetan villages which are situated in the valley. The valley has a variety of natural scenery - lakes, waterfalls, snowy mountains and lush green forests. There are also more than 100 lakes of various sizes and shapes which sparkle with iridescent colors.

Accommodation
There is a special offer from the Wenhan Hotel (three stars) of the Southwest University for Nationalities to all participants to the yak congress at a cost of about 30 US$ per night per room with a private bathroom. If you would like to stay in this hotel, please kindly let us know your travel schedule as soon as possible so that we can make a reservation on your behalf. Obviously there are many other better hotels in Chengdu (up to six stars), if you want to get more information, please do not hesitate to contact us. You are expected to pay your accommodation while you are in Chengdu.
Travel to Chengdu
Chengdu is the capital city of Sichuan province and well connected with many large cities in China and in south and southeastern Asia. There is at least one flight per hour daily from Beijing, Shanghai or Guangzhou to Chengdu. Airport pick-up and send-off will be arranged if we could receive your detailed travel schedule earlier. Otherwise it is not difficult to find the hotel or the University by Taxi.
Clothing
The weather in late September in Chengdu is nice and the temperature ranges between 20 to 30 degrees; however, it is necessary to have warm clothes for the field visits because the temperature may be as low as 10 degrees occasionally.
Currency
Chinese RMB Yuan is the only currency in China. It is very easy to change cash, traveler’s check or credit card in banks or hotels in Chengdu (approximately 1 US$ = 8.2 Yuan).

All payments shall be made on-site while you are in Chengdu.
Note - The fees entitle you to all congress sessions, proceedings and handouts, meals during the meeting and field visits, welcome banquet, transport and accommodation during the field visits. Accompanying persons’ program includes short tours in Chengdu for the first three days and the four-day field visits.
There is no deadline for registration, however, to assist you need to apply for a visa to travel to China, please send us a copy of your valid passport by email (preferably the scanned version!) or by fax no later than 15th August so that we can arrange and send you an official invitation letter.
Post-Congress Tours
Those who want to travel in Sichuan after the congress can choose: a) Leshan Mountain and Emeishan Mountain at estimated cost of 500 Yuan/person for three days (entitles transport, guide, all tickets to the parks, meals and accommodation shared by two persons); b) Dujiangyan - Qinchengshan Mountain at estimated cost of 200 Yuan/person for one day; c) Short tour in Chengdu at estimated cost of 200 Yuan/person for one day.
