Key information
An introduction to diagnostic ultrasound in equine medical cases. The day starts with a lecture on how to get the most out of your ultrasound machine and how to avoid common pitfalls. A series of interactive lectures follow, covering abdominal, thoracic and ocular ultrasonography with the group then dividing into small group sessions for some hands-on scanning under supervision to put these skills into practice. There will be ample opportunity to practice what you have learnt on a variety of horses with a range of scanners.
Learning Outcomes
- Apply an understanding of the ultrasound machine set-up in order to maximise functionality and therefore optimise image acquisition.
- Demonstrate the practical skills required to acquire accurate ultrasound images of diagnostic quality, and demonstrate a systematic approach to ultrasonography of the equine abdomen, thorax and eye.
