Qu’est-ce qu’un LINAC ?
Les accélérateurs linéaires (LINAC) sont les appareils les plus utilisés en radiothérapie externe dans le traitement des cancers. Aujourd’hui, les LINAC représentent la majorité des appareils de radiothérapie de haute énergie employés en pratique vétérinaire (Figure 1) car ils sont capables de traiter toutes les parties du corps. Les rayons produits par ces appareils de mégavoltage ont d’excellentes capacités de pénétration tissulaire, ce qui permet leur utilisation pour traiter les tumeurs à la fois superficielles et profondes.
