W tym kontekÊcie, posiadanie zdrowego ulubieƒca staje si ́ priorytetem, zw∏aszcza w stosunku do paso ̋ytów. Pomimo dekad badaƒ, terapeutycznego i prewencyjnego podawania leków, w szczególnoÊci przeciwko infekcjom robakami paso ̋ytujàcymi w jelitach, obserwuje si ́ znaczàcy wzrost incydentów chorób paso ̋ytniczych. W zwiàzku z faktycznym wzrostem infekcji lub coraz lepszymi metodami diagnostycznymi na znaczeniu zyskujà paso ̋yty z innych grup (1). Teraz nale ̋à one do najcz ́Êciej identyfikowanych. W naszym laboratorium, w pierwszej po∏owie 2008 roku, pierwotniaki znaleziono w 21,2% próbkach ka∏u uzyskanych od 709 psów, natomiast jaja robaków jelitowych znaleziono w 5,2% z tych próbek. U kotów w 18,5% próbkach uzyskanych od 226 kotów wykryto pierwotniaki i 5,3% robaki jelitowe. Zazwyczaj stosowana profilaktyka nie obejmuje tych infekcj w zwiàzku z tym nie mo ̋na zignorowaç ryzyka dla zdrowia cz∏owieka. [...]
