Introdução
A doença de Addison, ou hipoadrenocorticismo, deve-se a uma deficiência na secreção de corticosteróides pelas glândulas adrenais. Nos cães, a causa mais comum é a insuficiência adrenal primária, que habitualmente provoca uma deficiência tanto ao nível dos glicocorticóides (principalmente cortisol) como dos mineralocorticóides (sobretudo aldosterona). Uma causa mais rara de hipoadrenocorticismo é a disfunção da hipófise, que resulta numa secreção de ACTH diminuída ou inexistente e em insuficiência adrenal secundária. [...]
