Introduction
Le syndrome dilatation-torsion de l’estomac (SDTE) met en jeu le pronostic vital et nécessite un diagnostic et un traitement précoces. Bien que des cas aient été décrits chez le chat, ce syndrome est plus fréquent chez le chien et implique une dilatation gazeuse de l’estomac associée à une rotation autour de son axe longitudinal. Historiquement, le taux de mortalité associé au SDTE a longtemps été considéré comme élevé ; différentes études le situant entre 15 % et 68 % (1-5), mais une meilleure compréhension de ce syndrome devrait permettre de réduire la morbidité et la mortalité qui lui sont associées.
