The wound-healing assay is used to study a cell’s ability to proliferate and migrate in culture. Interleukin-8 (IL8) and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-2 (TIMP2) stimulate and inhibit, respectively, term human trophoblast proliferation and migration in vitro.
