The cattitude, an immersion in the cat’s mind and vital perspective is very important for an optimal management of cats in the practice, as well as for the safety of the patient, the owner and the staff. This is the only way to be able to adapt our retaining, handling and hospitalization procedures, among other, as beneficial as possible and with positive results. Even if our attitude is quite sceptic according to our history with cats, taking some time to see the practice from the cat perspective and changing anything that may be stressing, causes anxiety, fear and potentiates aggression (which will increase in future visits) is the most satisfactory strategy and the most long-term beneficial for our feline patients in general, and therefore for the practice too.
Cats are strict carnivore small mammals. They have coexisted with human beings for thousands of years due to their ability to control pests and as pet. It is a very skilled predator who hunts about 1,000 different species. It is intelligent and may be trained to obey various simple orders.
