La Ehrlichiosis es una enfermedad infecciosa emergente de carácter zoonótico, causada por Ehrlichia spp., más específicamente por E. canis bacteria Gram negativa, intracelular obligada, con tropismo definido por monocitos y polimorfonucleares.

Durante el periodo de mayo a septiembre del año 2011, se procedió a muestrear 36 caninos del Hospital Clínico Veterinario Docente (HCVD) de la Universidad Santo Tomás-Talca, a los cuales se les realizó el test de ELISA ImmunoComb (Biogal Galed. Labs), el cual detecta anticuerpos contra E. canis.

Se evidenció la presencia de E. canis, en pacientes caninos de la ciudad de Talca, lo cual queda demostrado por el 16,6% de prevalencia obtenido, sin diferencia estadística significativa entre las variables sexo, edad y raza.[…]
