In this investigation we use linear measurements as common tools to describe claw development and claw soundness. Presented are the results of a long term measurement program, containing the data of at least 136 two years old bulls and heifers.
Material and methods
Our investigations of bulls were made on the digital organ after slaughter. Investigations in heifers were made before first calving. Genotypes (gt) were German Fleckvieh (FV), German Holsteins (GH), F1 crossbred calves of these two breeds (FV-GH) and two back crossed lines GH75 with mainly German Holsteins blood ...
