In the 90´s, in the UK a new disease, Contagious Ovine Digital Dermatitis (CODD), was described. In 2005, in two farms of Uruguay, (“CIEDAG” and “Don Arturo”), a non recognized foot disease was presented. At CIEDAG, on May, 14 of 163 (8.5%) lameness Corriedale lambs were found, and in an inspection the majority of lesions started at the coronary band, while others did at the white line. The main lesions were at the laminar chorion (hoof separation) with a necrotic appearance and slightly haemorrhage. In most of the cases the abaxial wall (external) of the toe was affected, though some cases in the axial wall were also found. No interdigital dermatitis or pus discharge were found. Samples in Stuart transport media were submission to the lab and resulted negative to the direct visualization of Dichelobacter Nodosus and direct inmunofluorescense (DIF). All the samples showed high numbers of Treponemas by direct visualization on dark field microscope. This samples were cultured through the EMJH method, and Spirochaetes were isolated.
