Nutritional Secondary Hyperparathyroidism in a 9 Months Old Cat

Introduction
Nutritional secondary hyperparathyroidism (NSH) has become a rare condition since the introduction of balanced commercial pet food(1). With the immigration of street animals and the new hype of inappropriate home-made diets, NSH has become an important clinical entity again and therefore clinical knowledge on this illness should be up to date for current veterinarians. This report describes a recent case of NSH in a cat.

Case report
A 9-months-old intact female domestic shorthaired cat, immigrated from Turkey, was
presented with a history of paresis, stranguria, haematuria and fecal constipation. As an
orphan kitten, it was found undernourished on the street and then fed with only raw
