Fibrosarcoma is one of the most important malignant soft tissue tumors. It may originate as primary or secondary metastases of primary neoplasm in other organs or as systemic diseases.
The aim of this study is to report one of the rarest spleen tumors in dog.
A 14-year old female terrier with symptoms such as palpable abdominal mass and increased abdominal cavity was referred to veterinary hospital. At first for more evaluation, abdominal ultrasonography was done. Ultrasonography revealed heterogeneous echotexture with focal areas of increased echogenicity and several hypoechoic nodules that have centrally and peripherally blood supply due to Doppler examination. The splenic borders have become rounded that represented the enlargement of the spleen. Also it revealed anechoic areas within abdominal cavity that indicated free fluid in abdomen. For detecting metastasis no chest x-Ray was done. According to the diagnosis of veterinary clinician, splenectomy was done and whole of spleen in formalin 10% was sent to pathology laboratory. […]
