Abstract
Introduction - Degenerative lumbosacral stenosis (DLSS) is a common disease in dogs characterized by intervertebral disc (IVD) degeneration and herniation, loss of disc height, and stenosis. Dorsal laminectomy and partial discectomy alleviates neural compression, but causes further spinal instability and may worsen stenosis. Dorsal fixation procedures, like pedicle screw-and-rod fixation (PSRF), allow for distraction, and restoration of disc height and foramina, but lack a ventral stabilizer, which may be provided by an intervertebral body cage construct.
