Wound closure on the distal forelimb of a dog after oncologic surgery: a case report including background information of wound closure on the distal limb of dogs
A thirteen-year-old female neutered Dachshund dog was presented with a mass on the base of digit I on the right forelimb. Cytologic examination on material collected via fine needle aspiration resulted in the presumptive diagnosis of spindle cell sarcoma. CT scanning of the thorax did not reveal any metastases and removal of the tumor (3x3,5x2 centimeters) was scheduled. Amputation of digit I including metacarpal I and en bloc resection of metacarpal II was performed.
