Ileum mucinous carcinoma in Trakehner horse
Introduction
Malignant neoplasms are more common than benign tumors, and most are of epithelial origin (1, 2). Carcinomas and other tumors of gastrointestinal tracts in horses can causes progressive colic and loss of weight (3). We are presenting rare case report of ileum mucinous carcinoma in Trakehner horse.
Material and Methods
16 year old male Trakehner horse with history of the recurrent colic during last 3 months. During diagnostic laparotomy the intussuspection of ileum and its lumen narrowing were found. The local ileum resection was performed and anastamosis was made. The removed mass was fixed in 10% formalin and submitted for histopathologic (H&E) and immunohistochemical (cytokeratin7 and 34βE12, MNF 116) examinations. […]
