Overweight and growth related skeletal disease
During growth and development it is extremely important to feed a proper amount of food to prevent developmental orthopedic diseases. Overweight conditions during growth increases and alters pressure on the developing skeleton, which may cause limb deformities. Furthermore, overeating results in an increased intake of calcium. Increased calcium intake, either by increased food intake or by increased calcium content of the diet, disturbs the endochondral ossification due to effects on calcium homeostasis and bone mineralization. An imbalance of other nutrients (phosphorus, vitamin A, and vitamin D) can also disturb normal skeletal development.
