CLINICAL EVALUATIONS OF BICEPS FEMORIS MUSCLE TRANSPOSITION TECHNIQUE IN CRANIAL CRUCIATE LIGAMENT RUPTURE IN 5 CATS
The aim of this study was to evaluate Biceps Femoris Muscle Transposition technique as a new extracapsular treatment method for Cranial Cruciate Ligament Rupture in cats. Five cats were treated with this method and each patient was followed up for 90 days as standart clinic procedure to evaluate motion range of stifle joint, lameness and existence of osteoarthritis. Within 5 cats examined in this study, according the preoperatif examinations, 4 of cats were diagnosed as total LCA rupture and one of cat was diagnosed as LCA rupture and menisceal injury. For each patients, Duration of the biceps femoris muscle transposition procedure in operation was between 20 and 25 minutes. Postoperatively, radiographs were taken at 10., 30., 60., and 90. days. During the follow up time, there was no complication for all cases. After 90 days from the operation, four of the cats had no lameness but Just in one case, mild lameness was observed due to menisceal injury.
