Arthroscopic findings and follow up in 473 dogs with elbow lameness
Objective
To report clinical, radiographic, and arthroscopic findings in dogs with elbow lameness due to pathology of the medial aspect of the coronoid process (MCP).
Materials and methods
Pertinent data (age, breed, sex, duration and severity of lameness (grade 1-4), before and after surgery and radiographic changes (before surgery) and arthroscopic results over a period of 2 years (2012-2014) where analyzed. Statistical analysis was performed to evaluate associations between data.
Results
Mean age at diagnosis was 12 months (range 6-96) and duration of lameness was 4 weeks (range 2-28) Retrievers were over represented (46%) as well as male dogs (59%) The majority of the dogs showed lameness grade 3 out of 4. Dogs under the age of 1.5 years improved significantly (P<0.05) at least 2 grades after surgery, whereas dogs older than six only improved 1 grade within 3 months after surgery. […]
