Principales anomalías asociadas a la diabetes mellitus felina
Desde el punto de vista fisiopatológico, la diabetes felina y la DM2 humana, son endocrinopatías com- parables. Para comprender mejor las modificaciones subyacentes, en este capítulo, se hace referencia a datos obtenidos en modelos experimentales, normalmente en roedores.
Las principales anomalías que se encuentran en el gato diabético y en la DM2 humana son:
- resistencia a la insulina, que provoca una alteración en la utilización de los nutrientes en los tejidos sensibles a la insulina.
- alteración de la función de las células del páncreas, que provoca anomalías en la secreción y falta de insulina y amilina.
