El sentido del gusto
En el gato, el sentido del gusto está presente cinco días antes de su nacimiento (Beaver, 1980) y va evo- lucionando con el tiempo. La sensibilidad gustativa incluye los cuatro sabores básicos, clasificados en distintas categorías de mayor a menor (según la reacción del gato tras una simple aplicación sobre la lengua de vinagre, sal, quinina, azúcar):
- ácido > amargo > salado > dulce
(Al gato doméstico ni le atrae, ni le repele el sabor dulce o el dulzor de los edulcorantes).
