Alle heute verfügbaren Therapien für jede einzelne der Herzkreislauferkrankungen des Hundes hier zunennen, würde den Umfang dieses Kapitels sprengen. Dafür sei auf die vielen hervorragenden Fachbü-cher zum Thema der medikamentellen und chirurgischen Behandlungsmöglichkeiten von Herzkrank-heiten verwiesen (Kittleson & Kienle, 1998; Fox et al., 1999; Kittleson, 2000; Sisson et al., 2000a; Ware&Keene, 2000). Die übliche Medikation für Herzpatienten besteht, je nach Krankheitsbild, in der Ver-abreichung von Furosemid, ACE-Hemmern, Digoxin, positiv inotropen Pharmaka, Betablockern, Anti-arrhythmika und zusätzlichen Diuretika wie Thiaziden und Aldosteronantagonisten (z.B. Spironolac-ton). Je nach Medikation ist die entsprechende, individuell auf den einzelnen Patienten abgestimmtetherapeutische Diät zu wählen (siehe unten).
