La hiperlipidemia puede ser consecuencia de una serie de anomalías (Tabla 3). Entre ellas figuran el hipotiroidismo, la pancreatitis, la colestasis, el hiperadrenocorticismo, la diabetes, el síndrome nefróti- co, la obesidad y, en ocasiones, las dietas demasiado ricas en grasas. Hipotiroidismo
El hipotiroidismo es la enfermedad endocrina más frecuente en el perro y suele provocar hiperlipide- mia sérica. En un estudio realizado con 2 007 perros que presentaban hiperlipidemia recurrente, se dia- gnosticó hipotiroidismo a 413 animales (21 % de la muestra).
