El comienzo y el espectro de acontecimientos clínicos y patológicos que aparecen en pacientes con IRC varían en función de la naturaleza, la gravedad, la duración y la velocidad de progresión de la enferme- dad renal, además de la presencia o ausencia de enfermedades concomitantes. Los hallazgos de la anam- nesis incluyen anorexia, depresión, debilidad, letargia, pérdida de peso, halitosis, náuseas, vómitos, dia- rrea, melena, poliuria y polidipsia. En el examen físico puede observarse palidez de las mucosas, deshi- dratación, hipotermia, estomatitis, úlceras bucales, pelo seco y lacio y mal estado general. La palpación del abdomen revela unos riñones pequeños e irregulares.
