Le malattie croniche dello stomaco esitano in numerosi segni clinici (Tabella 16), il più importante dei quali è il vomito. Le cause di quest’ultimo sono rappresentate da malattie gastroenteriche ed extra- gastroenteriche (Tabella 17). Esistono due meccanismi principali che causano il vomito gastrico: l’ostruzione del deflusso dello stomaco, la gastroparesi e la distruzione della mucosa (Tabella 18). Col termine di ematemesi si indica il vomito di sangue. Di solito deriva dalla presenza di un’ulcera gastrica o gastroduodenale.
