Stimulation de l’abreuvement et de la diurèse
Quel que soit le type de calculs en cause, il faut encourager le chien à boire pour favoriser la production d’une urine plus diluée. C’est une mesure essentielle pour prévenir la formation de calculs en limitant la concentration de leurs précurseurs dans l’urine. Il existe trois moyens simples pour encourager l’abreuve- ment: choisir un aliment humide, réhydrater l’aliment sec avant sa dis- tribution ou augmenter légèrement le taux de sodium de l’aliment. Un taux de 3,2 g de sodium/1000 kcal n’affecte pas la tension artérielle chez le chien en bonne santé, ni chez un animal présentant une patholo- gie rénale modérée.
