Das Ziel des Merchandisings ist die Steigerung des Absatzes. Aus qualitativer Sicht sollte das Merchandising zudem folgende Kriterien erfüllen:

> Verbesserung des Eindrucks der Praxis beim Kunden

  • Eine nüchterne, klar abgegrenzte und rationale Präsentation der Produkte ist eine deutliche Richtgröße für Besitzer, die persönliche Betreuung wünschen.

> Unterstreichen des Unterschieds zwischen einer tierärztlichen Praxis/ Klinik und dem freien Handel

  • Besitzer erwarten, dass sich die Praxis/Klinik von anderen Vertriebswegen (Zoohandel, Supermarkt) für Hundefutter deutlich unterscheidet, indem sie spezialisierte Hochleistungsprodukte anbietet.
