De nombreux facteurs de risque et entités cliniques ont été identifiés à propos des maladies cardiovas- culaires du chien. Des prédispositions raciales sont connues pour la plupart des affections courantes (Tableau 1: page suivante). De nombreuses races de chiens de petite taille et de taille moyenne sont prédisposées à la valvulopathie chronique acquise (VPC ou endocardiose), tandis que la cardiomyopa- thie dilatée (CMD) et les épanchements péricardiques sont les causes les plus fréquentes d’insuffisance cardiaque (IC) chez les chiens de grande taille.
