A one-year old, male neutered, domestic shorthair cat presented with a non-weight bearing right hind limb lameness following a fall from a cat tree. Upon presentation the cat and all vital parameters were within normal limits. On orthopedic examination, there was a pain response upon manipulation of the proximal right hind limb and crepitus was p puncture wounds were present over the lateral thigh and the proximal limb was severely swollen.
Radiographs revealed a mid-diaphyseal severely comminuted femoral fracture with fissures extending into the distal metaphysis and epiphysis. A CT scan was performed to p extension of the fissures. While there was no articular involvement, there was a circumferential loss of cortical continuity in the immediate supratrochlear region (Figure 1).
