The prognosis following repair of fractures of the proximal phalanx has been reported in the scientific literature, detailing groups of horses from different geographic regions, athletic disciplines, and time periods (during which treatment approaches have changed). Most reports relate to Thoroughbred or Standardbred racehorses from the UK and North America, and include cases with parasagittal fractures (short and long incomplete fractures, and complete fractures), and comminuted fractures.
