The structure of personality Psychologist Dan McAdams has suggested that personality really has three levels [1,2]:
1. Basic traits • Basic, relatively stable characteristics that are shown consistently by a person in many different situations – e.g., when exposed to new situations and change, a person may consistently react by shutting down and refusing to cooperate
