Diagnostic imaging as a guide to therapeutic shoeing

Diagnostic imaging provides at least two different types of information relevant to therapeutic shoeing. First, it provides information about the relationship between the distal phalanx and the hoof capsule, and the relationship between the phalanges, navicular bone, and metacarpus/ metatarsus. Second, it provides diagnostic information that can identify which structure is injured and the nature of the injury. This discussion will focus on the latter.
