The low-heeled foot, also known as underrun or collapsed heels, has been recognised as a cause of lameness for decades [1,2]. Unsoundness from collapsed heels has a mechanical effect upon the deep digital flexor tendon and other supportive structures and also crushes the volar sensitive tissues. Temporary relief from the effects of collapsed heels can be achieved but in the long term these are frequently detrimental [3].
