Posterior uveitis (PU) is a poorly described and poorly understood entity; the term covers the inflammatory disorders of the posterior uvea. It is unlikely that, inflammatory disease of any aetiology would affect the retina without affecting the choroid also; a better name might chorioretinitis or in a less specific way chorioretinopathy.
