Due to recent advances in sports horse medicine, bandages and casts are being used and adapted more and more in the treatment and rehabilitation of injuries. The role of bandages and casts in first aid treatment and emergency medicine must also be acknowledged. It is incredibly important to consider application techniques to ensure the comfort of the patient, as well as ensuring that recovery is enhanced rather than hindered. The reasons for applying bandages and casts will be discussed along with the correct and current techniques for application. Information on correct materials to use will also be included.
