Rider and horse direct support
1. Performance Squad support: To assist in targeted top class performance and to produce winning edge. Performance analysis revealed that difference between medalling and not was 1%, so we have to find 10 things that give us a 0.1% improvement.
2. Development Programme: Potential Programme is to support and assist in taking talented riders to podium level. Start Programme aims to provide horse management skills and education to assist riders develop onto the Potential Programme which is more horse support based to take horse and rider to podium level.
3. Equine Pathway: The purpose of the Pathway is to identify horses that have the potential to develop into medal winning horses. ESSM assessment and an element of support is offered to the riders and owners of these horses in order to help them maximise the horses’ potential.
Differences: Performance Squad support is entirely support for selected horse/rider combinations. Development has an educational and support system built into it. Equine Pathway is a horse development orientated programme.
2. Team support in preparation for and on the field of play by our ESSM staff (veterinary, farriers, physiotherapists, saddlers, nutritionists, etc.)
• Yard visits: WCP ESSM visit to horse to assess in home environment to support home team and preparation for competition.
• Competition and travel support: Veterinary surgeon, physiotherapist, farrier etc. to give front line support in competition. […]
