    Este estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar la digestibilidad ileal del fósforo (DIP) y la retención de P en las excretas (RPE) de 5 muestras de fosfato monodicálcico (FMC) y 3 muestras de fosfato dicálcico (FDC) en pollos de engorde y en patos Pekin utilizando el método de sustitución.

    Se asignaron al azar un total de 720 pollos de engorde Arbor Acres de 21 días de vida (Prueba 1) y 720 patos Pekin de 15 días de edad (Prueba 2) en 9 tratamientos nutricionales con 8 jaulas por prueba y 10 aves/jaula, en función de un peso vivo medio similar. La recolección de excrementos se realizó durante 72 h después de una aclimatación de tres días y la de contenido ileal, 6 días después de la alimentación con las dietas experimentales.

    Los resultados mostraron que el promedio de DIP/ RPE de FMC y FDC para pollos de engorde fue 83,11 %/74,52 % y 75,34 %/69,46 %; y para patos fue 79,37 %/80,02 % y 75,74 %/76,44 %, respectivamente. La DIP/RPE de FMC en pollos de engorde y la RPE de FMC en patos fueron notablemente más altas (p < 0,05) que las de FDC. Estos datos sugieren que usar el método de sustitución para evaluar la biodisponibilidad de los fosfatos en el alimento tiene sus propias ventajas; el FMC tiene mayor disponibilidad biológica que el FDC para pollos de engorde y patos.
