Lors de difficultés d’exploitation sportive, de baisse de performances ou de problèmes comportementaux au box ou sous la selle chez des juments, il est souvent évoqué un trouble ovarien [4, 5, 7, 8, 12]. Du fait des manifestations comportementales incluant couinements, émissions fréquentes de jets d’urine, fouaillements de la queue, parfois morsures ou ruades ou encore réaction de fuite, ce comportement anormal, classiquement désigné sous le terme de syndrome des juments pisseuses, est souvent considéré comme étant un oestrus anormalement exacerbé ou prolongé.
