Résumé : la sédanalgésie permet de réaliser des interventions sur cheval debout, dans des conditions de confort comparables, mais sans les risques de l’anesthésie générale. Cette technique représente toutefois un challenge, devant permettre de contenir parfaitement l’animal en évitant un certain nombre d’incidents classiques comme une ataxie importante voire un décubitus. La sécurité en sédanalgésie passera alors par un choix judicieux du sédatif et de l’analgésique à associer ainsi que des doses de chacun d’eux, par une prise en charge de la douleur multimodale, précoce et adaptée ainsi que par la gestion plus globale de l’animal lui-même et de son environnement.
